A 20 foot container of mainly donated items has arrived in Port Moresby to support the work of Operation Food for Life. The container was loaded by dedicated volunteers in Sydney in late November.
In all there are 341 items in the container which includes 41 wheelchairs/toilet chairs, 21 walking frames, 178 bags of clothing, 7 pairs crutches, 12 bags of Wraps with Love (made by various groups of wonderful ladies in eastern Australia), 4 cartons of books, 10 cartons of kitchen items, 43 chairs, 19 desks, 1 screen, 13 cartons toys, approx. 6 bags of sewing materials and 32 cartons of Bibles etc.
The large amount of clothing (sorted and packed by the dedicated team of ladies in Wahroonga) includes items for babies through to adults. The chairs, desks and kitchen items are for the Rob and Jan Patterson Literacy School (refer previous reports on the school).
Co-Founders of Operation Food for Life David Woolley and Dennis Perry pay tribute to the generosity of financial supporters who will ensure many lives will be touched, quality of lives changed, (many who live in areas of great poverty), through distribution of these much needed items. They will be on the ground later in January 2014 to continue to support the local team in all activities and participate in some of the distribution of these goods.
