One of the core projects for Operation Food for Life (OFFL) in Port Moresby is providing food and clothing for up to 450 displaced families who physically live on or near the largest rubbish dump on the city outskirts.

All of the volunteers who help these families never come away  immune from the  daily hardships faced by those who call Baruni home.

There is simply  not sufficient words in the dictionary to begin to describe the tragic conditions here.

The ultimate goal for OFFL is to break the cycle of the curse of  the past generations of families living on the dump by providing education for the children.

Through your support OFFL is making a difference in this area of great need.

The following slide show provides a small snap shot of some of the people living in this area. However the slides do not convey the stench of rotting garbage and smoke emanating from the mountains of garbage 24 hours a day.
